The concept behind Asia de Cuba has always been simple; taking the best from both Asian and Cuban cuisine and mixing it together to create a must-taste menu made for travellers and variety lovers. Now, when Asia de Cuba is relaunching with a new Cuban-born executive chef Luis Pous, this concept has never been stronger.
Executive chef Pous brings a new twist on the old favourites while still keeping the traditional and authentic preperations. Inspired by the old Havana's Chinatown the restaurant represents an Asian-inspired Cuban fare with a modern twist. Even though there is a new chef, Asia de Cuba still keeps its sharing style presentation loved by many.
Some if the dishes I can recommend are: Grouper Ceviche (mojo amarillo, sofrito crudo, ralish), Chilli Rubbed Scallops (black rice, black beans, roasted cauliflower, japanese aioli) and a must is the El Lechon - a Cuban style slow roasted pork with maduros, black beans, fried rice, Chinese eggplant & plantain fricassee. It also comes with three sauces on the side: house hot, sweet sesame and shiso mojo.
As for the space, Asia de Cuba does not disappoint again. Dramatic collumns filled with vintage books and artistic portraits make you feel like you are in an echanted fairy tale. The quirky interior compliments perfectly the imagination put behind Asia de Cuba's current menu.
You can find Asia de Cuba in St. Martin's Lane hotel near Leicester Square, follow them on Facebook under Asia de Cuba or on Twitter @AsiadeCubaUK.
